In this write up, we will cover everything you need to know about setting up your Spydr Chassis. Since this chassis uses the UTB18 drivetrain, you can build it from scratch or you could buy an RTR and swap this chassis in. Follow the steps below to build your Spydr!
*Some components are 3D printed, do not over tighten. Snug is enough.*
- Lay out your front and rear axles on a flat surface with the links mounted to the axles.
- Find the delrin transmission skid and the stock M3 lower link screws.
- Thread the M3 hardware into the outermost holes on the transmission skid.
- Once the hardware appears in the middle of the skid, begin to run the hardware through your lower link ends. Depending on your links, you may need to install the included link spacers to eliminate side play.
- Once the front and rear lower links are installed in the transmission skid, use the stock M3x8mm screws to attach the slider and chassis rails to the skid via the innermost skid holes.
- With the chassis rails and sliders installed, use the stock shock hardware and the provided M3 nuts to attach the upper links to the inner face of the chassis. This will require you to rotate the slider out of the way so that you can access the upper link holes.
- With the upper links installed, use the provided M3x20mm screws and shock spacers to mount the shocks to the chassis. We recommend threading the shock hardware into the provided chassis braces.
- Next you will mount the transmission. First, place the provided transmission adapter (orange) onto the bottom of your transmission. Orient the adapter so that the bottom gear is unobstructed. The flat side of the adapter should be in contact with the bottom of the transmission housing. The protruding portion must face down.
- With the adapter in place, run the stock transmission hardware into the transmission mounting holes. Slide the transmission side to side to adjust the placement of the motor and transmission.
- Install driveshafts, wheels, electronics.
